Elizabethtown Reeves, Jr., Colonel Jarrold M., Colonel Jarrold "Jerry" M. Reeves, Jr., 57, husband of Katrina Reeves of Elizabethtown, KY was killed on November 12, 2016 by a suicide bomber at Bagram Air Base, Afghanistan. Born on May 25, 1959 in Atlanta, Georgia, he is the son of the late Jarrold M. "Red" Reeves, Sr. and Charlotte Ralston Reeves. He is survived by his wife Katrina; daughters Jennifer of Elizabethtown, Summer Dunn, Hannah Mason and Mallory Reeves of Marietta, GA; stepsons Evan and Dillon Stader of Fishers, Indiana; mother Charlotte of Delray Beach, FL; three grandchildren from his daughter Summer (Caleb, Campbell, Tyler) and two grandchildren from his daughter Hannah (Charlie and Madaline); sister Joy Reeves Tulloch and her husband Scott and their sons Hunter and Cooper of Boca Raton, FL; sister Jane Reeves and her partner John Berrena of Deerfield Beach, FL; and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins. Jarrold graduated from Avondale High School in Atlanta in 1977 where he played football and wrestled. He then attended Presbyterian College (PC) in Clinton, SC and graduated in 1982 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. He played football at PC and participated in the ROTC program. In 1982, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the US Army and embarked upon a 29 year career of distinguished military service primarily in the Quartermaster Corps. Colonel Reeves retired from the Army in May 2011 at Fort Knox. His notable senior leadership positions include: Commander, 553rd Corps Support Battalion at Fort Hood, TX (1999-2001); Deputy Chief of Staff, G-4 (Logistics), 4th Infantry Division at Fort Hood (2001-2002); Deputy Chief of Staff, G-3 (Operations), 21st Theater Support Command at Kaiserslautern, Germany (2003-2004); Commander, 200th Materiel Management Center (Theater Distribution Brigade)in Kaiserslautern (2004-2007); and Deputy Commander, 3rd Sustainment Command (Expeditionary) [formerly 3rd COSCOM] at Fort Knox, KY (2007-2011). In addition to these assignments, Jarrold served with the 3rd Infantry Division in Schweinfurt, Germany; 23rd Quartermaster Brigade at Fort Lee, VA; Defense Fuel Supply Center; 260thQuartermaster Battalion (POL) and 24th Corps Support Group at Fort Stewart, GA; Special Operation Command Pacific at Camp Smith, Hawaii; and III Corps at Fort Hood. Jarrold attended the US Army Command and General Staff College and was awarded a Master's Degree in Military Arts and Science. He also received a Masters in Strategic Leadership from the Army War College. His other military education includes the Infantry Officer Basic Course, Airborne School, Mortar Platoon Leaders Course, Bradley Infantry Fighting Vehicle Commanders Course, Quartermaster Officer Advanced Course, Combined Arms Service Staff School, and Rigger School. As a talented logistician and effective leader, he was most proud of his deployment to Iraq in 2008 to oversee the sustainment and distribution of logistics support and to lead the initial planning and execution for the drawdown of military forces and associated equipment. He also was proud of his deployment to Haiti in 2010 to lead the initial planning for Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief support to over a million Haitians affected by the earthquake. After retiring from the Army, he continued serving his country by joining Fluor Corporation in July 2011 and deploying to Afghanistan to provide logistics services for military forces. Jarrold was Fluor's Deputy Project Manager for Logistics and Public Works in Afghanistan at the time of his death. Jarrold died doing what he loved - providing for the US Military Soldier. Colonel JARROLD M. REEVES was one of GOD'S BEST WORKS. Services will be held on Wednesday, November 30 at 11 a.m. at the Prichard Chapel at 4769 8th Armored Division Drive, Fort Knox. Interment with military honors will follow at 1 p.m. at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery in Radcliff. Civilians without a military ID or CAC must obtain a visitor pass to access Fort Knox. The visitors pass office is located at the Fort Knox main entrance (Chaffee Gate).
