Barbara Ellen McDaniel, 82 of Elizabethtown, died Friday, August 12, 2016 at Atria. She was a native of Charleston, WV and a member of Valley View Baptist Church in Vine Grove. She retired from Fort Knox Civil Service. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Alma Holstein Blount, four brothers, Martin Blount, Billy Bount, Jerry Blount and J. A. Blount and a sister, Judy Kelly. She is survived by her husband, (Ret.) Sgt. Major William C. McDaniel; two sons, Charles Martin Layne of Niles, OH and James Douglas Layne of Royston, GA; two daughters, Theresa Layne and Dave Hoops of Niles, Ohio and Desiree (Tom) Goodner of Elizabethtown; two sisters, Connie Burke of Radcliff and Alma Montgomery of Florida and a brother; Roy Edwards (Dottie) Blount of Mobile, AL and five grandchildren, Tommy Wenger, Janna Dodrill, Aaron Hardy Jr., Nicholas Hardy, Tyler Goodner and 10 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends. A Graveside service will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central with Pastor Shawn Edwards officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and continue after 9 a.m. Wednesday at Brown Funeral Home. Condolences may be expressed online at www.brownfuneral.com.
