Minnie Alice Bondurant Scott

The Reverend Alice Bondurant Scott died on Sunday, June 26, 2016, 6 days after her 91st birthday, and three months after she and her husband, Jack J. Scott, celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary. She was preceded in death by her parents, James W. Bondurant and Zula Powell Bondurant, a sister, Peggy Penas, and brothers, Joseph Bondurant and James E. Bondurant. She was also preceded in death by her grandson, Dow Robey, son-in- law, Lyle Robey, and great-granddaughters, Emily Catherine Winfrey, and Reese Isabella Edmondson. She is survived by her husband, Jack J. Scott, sisters, Mary B. Jones and Eleanor B. Newman, daughters, Alice Joan Robey, Rachel Scott Marshall (Larry Marshall) and Ann Bondurant Scott (Steve Yonce), her sons, John J. Scott (Sandra Scott) and William L. Scott (Marjorie Haskell), grandchildren, Matthew Robey, William James, Edward James, David Scott, Alyssa Winfrey, Emily Edmondson, Scott Hudson and Alec Hudson, and eight great-grandchildren, Dylan Robey, Elizabeth James, Braden Scott, Kaitlynn Scott, Jackson Winfrey, Landon Winfrey, Ian Edmondson and Isaac Edmondson. During her lifetime, Alice served as a schoolteacher, bank marketing officer, speech therapist, United Methodist minister, chaplain, writer and poet. She was also a marvelous mother and wife. Her memorial service will be on Saturday, August 6, at 11:00 A.M. at the Memorial United Methodist Church in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. Visitation will be from 6 - 8 pm Friday, August 5 and continue after 9 am Saturday, August 6 at the church. Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown was in charge of the arrangements. Memorial contributions can be made to the Alice Bondurant Scott Scholarship Fund at Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia, Kentucky; to the Greenspace Organization in Elizabethtown, Kentucky or to the Nature Conservancy.
