Phillip E. Acres, Sr.

Phillip E. Acres, Sr. 75 of Elizabethtown, died Friday, June 10, 2016 at Baptist East Hospital in Louisville. He was a native of Scott County, TN and a member and Deacon at Immanuel Baptist Church. He was a member of the Order of Kentucky Colonels, served in the United States Air Force during Vietnam and retired from Fort Knox Civil Service. He was preceded in death by a son, Phillip E. Acres, Jr.; his parents, Audney and Thelma Acres; two brothers, Norman Acres and Thomas Acres and a sister, Iona Hammond. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Brenda Litton Acres; a daughter and her husband, Debby and Tim Smith of Elizabethtown; a son, Brian Acres of Hardin County; three brothers, Robert Acres of Utah, David Acres and Johnny Acres both of Tennessee; three sisters, Josephine Nitzschke, Phyllis Acres and Patricia Acres Chambers all of Tennessee; three grandchildren, Phillip E. Acres III, Christopher Graham Smith and Nathan Alexander Smith and special friends, Craig and Renee Johnson and their children. The funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Eric Oliver officiating. Burial will follow in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. and continue after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
