George Andrew Higdon

George Andrew Higdon, 74, passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2016, surrounded by his family, at his home in Glendale. He was a native of Glendale and a lifelong member of St. James Catholic Church. He was a retired commercial plumber with Addie S. French then Knights Mechanical. He was an avid farmer and he enjoyed watching the news and discussing the news and UK Basketball. He is preceded in death by his parents; Raymond Alfred and Mary Ruby Smith Higdon, four sisters, Margie Brown, Sylvia Greeley, Louise Meredith, and Polly Love and one brother, Carlos Higdon. He is survived by his loving spouse of 53 years, Millie Ann Higdon of Glendale; devoted father to three children, Sandra G. Higdon of Glendale, James H. (Honey) Higdon and Sharon K. Higdon all of Elizabethtown; three sisters Jane (Jack) Hughes of Rineyville, Bertha (Billy) Parrett of Elizabethtown, and Norma Jean (Joe) Lee of Elizabethtown; three brother in law's, Delbert Love of Elizabethtown, Dave Brown of Florida, and Charles Greeley of CA; loving grandfather to five grandchildren, Cherish (Robby) Cothern, Andrew Higdon, Macy Higdon, and Alex Higdon, all of Elizabethtown, Dylan Goodin of Glendale and Emily Priddy of Flint Hill; three precious great grandchildren, Hunter, Madison and Logan Cothern of Elizabethtown. The funeral will be Monday at 12:00 noon at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in White Mills with Father Ben Brown officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. and continue after 10:00 am Monday at Brown Funeral Home with a procession to follow to the church. There will be a Prayer Vigil Service at 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Condolences may be expressed online at www.brownfuneral.com.
