Helen Peak Bennett

Helen Peak Bennett, 81 of The Villages, FL, died Monday, April 25, 2016 at Hosparus Inpatient Care Center at Nortons Pavilion. She was born September 10, 1934 in Bardstown, KY to Frank and Helen Peak. She was baptized at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Bardstown on September 17, 1934 and graduated from Elizabethtown Catholic High School. She married Tevis L. Bennett on January 30, 1958 at St. James Catholic Church in Elizabethtown. Her career path were the following; Secretary of the Elizabethtown Chamber of Commerce, Secretary to the President at Brandenburg Telephone Company in Elizabethtown, Secretary to the President at Blacheybury Mortgage Company in Lexington, Secretary at Fischer & Porter Company in Louisville, Retail Clerk at JC Penney in Elizabethtown and Secretary at Bennett & Associates Public Relations and Advertising in Louisville. She started singing when she was 17 years old at the USO in Elizabethtown for WWII troops stationed at Fort Knox. She sang at St. James Catholic Church in Elizabethtown when she was 17 years old, where she was a member at that time. She has also been a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Louisville and St. John Catholic Church in Brandenburg. She was a cantor at catholic churches for over 30 years and sang on Mass of the Air for several years. She was a member of the Colonel nets Louisville and several activities at Holy Trinity and St. John Catholic Church. She volunteered for Sisters House in Louisville where she answered the phone switch board on Sunday's for several years and was a volunteer at Goodwill, Red Cross, Jaycees, American Cancer Society and UNICEF. She loved to sing and loved the old classics. She loved people, especially her children. She is survived by her husband, Tevis Bennett of The Villages, FL; one son, Fred (Kelly) Bennett of La Grange; one daughter, Laura (Bill) Burcin of Beaufort, SC; one brother, Frank (Carolyn) Peak of Elizabethtown; five sisters, Cathy (Charlie) Wise of Colesurg, Carolyn (Stan) Davrowski of Nashua, NH, Francis Holland of Clinton Township, MI, Janice Quinton of Louisville and Lois Walker of Salisbury, NC; six grandchildren and one great grandson. The funeral will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church in Brandenburg with Rev. Kevin Bryan officiating. Burial will follow in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff.
