Ralph Summers

Ralph Summers, 85, of Elizabethtown, died Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at Hardin Memorial Hospital. He was born March 5, 1931 in Clinton County, Kentucky and graduated from Clinton County High School in the class of 1950. He joined the U.S. Air Force and served four years during the Korean Conflict. He was a graduate of Campbellsville College and had a Master of Arts and a Rank I from Western Kentucky University. Ralph was a teacher in the Hardin County Schools and retired after teaching 33 years. He was a member of Ridge Spring United Methodist Church, was a member of the Hardin County Retired Teachers Association, the Kentucky Education Association (KEA), and the Honorable Order of the Kentucky Colonels. Ralph was an avid gardener who enjoyed being outdoors. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Vera Leveridge Summers, three brothers, James Summers, Frank Summers, and Earl Summers. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Elizabeth Ann Summers of Elizabethtown; one daughter, Teresa Summers and her husband, Lieutenant Colonel Dennis A. Cash; one niece, Jane Summers (Van) Phillips; two nephews, Greg (Drendy) Summers, and Joe (Michelle) Summers, and a sister in law; Iva Lee Summers. The funeral will be Monday, April 25 at Brown Funeral Home at 1:00 pm with Rev. Don Sexton and Rev. Alisa Carman officiating. Burial will follow at Ridge Spring Methodist Church Cemetery in Rineyville, Kentucky. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00-8:00 pm and continue Monday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
