Kenneth and Brenda Drane

Brenda Lou Addington Drane passed away on February 7, 2016. Kenneth Darrell Drane passed away on March 31, 2016. Brenda was born June 2, 1943, in Jefferson County, Kentucky to the late Raymond and Alice Addington. She was the third of seven children, and was the dear sister to Dr. Jackie Addington Glover, (Jerry), Sharon Addington Bacon, (Terry), Diane Addington Matherly, (Jim), R.C. Addington, Kevin Addington, (Lisa), and the late Phillip Addington, (Doris). Kenneth was born January 31, 1943, in Hardin County, Kentucky, to Edna and the late Carrol Drane. He was the dear brother of Dianna Drane Hunsinger (Ed), Judy Drane Ward (David), and the late Betty Drane Robinson Allgood (Ronald and Russell). Brenda and Ken leave one loving daughter, Julia, son-in-law, Chad, and granddaughter, Erin, to mourn their passing. Brenda and Ken grew up as members of Cecilia United Methodist Church and were married there in 1962. They were later members of College Heights United Methodist Church in Elizabethtown, where Ken sang in the choir and Brenda taught Sunday School. Brenda and Ken both earned their Bachelor of Science degrees in 1965 from Eastern Kentucky State College. Brenda taught for 27 years in the Hardin County School System. She loved the community of Hardin County and spent many early mornings frequenting yard sales to find the latest antique “diamond in the rough” furniture or linens that she could lovingly restore. She also had a love for books, gardening, and family. Ken worked for 30 years for Gates Rubber Company as an accountant and plant controller. His passions included UK basketball and attending UK football games, woodworking, fishing, and singing in the Good News Quartet. He was also a member and former Master of The Grand Lodge Of Kentucky, F.&A.M. of Stephensburg. Visitation will be at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown from 4:00-8:00 on Saturday, April 2, with a Masonic Service at 7:00. The funeral will be held on Sunday, April 3, at College Heights United Methodist Church starting with visitation at 1:00 followed by the service at 2:00 by the Reverend Adam Sparks. Burial will follow at Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Alzheimer's Association or to the Building Fund at College Heights United Methodist Church.
