George Slinker

George "Charlie" Slinker, 82 of Glendale, died Friday, January 22, 2016 at Baptist Health in Louisville. He was a native of Hardin County, retired from Coca Cola Bottling Company after 36 years and a member of Gilead Baptist Church. He was an ordained Deacon and had perfect attendance in Sunday School for several years. He would do anything anyone asked of him. He was "fix it" dad to his kids and grandkids and a hardworking family man. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Sally Abell Slinker; brothers, Earl Slinker, Herbert Slinker and sisters, Ellen Jeffries and Helen Carroll. He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Slinker of Glendale; one son, Stephen Slinker of Mt. Washington; three daughters, Wanda Walker and Cheryl (Charles) Gentry all of Mt. Washington and Debbie (Duke) Downs of Radcliff; two brothers, Norman Slinker and Dorise Slinker both of Elizabethtown; eight grandchildren, Kimberly Dawn Clodfelter, Jenifer Love, Aurelia Bowlen, Dorian Downs, Morgan Nevill, Deanna Downs, Zach Nevill and Mackenzie Nevill and seven great grandchildren. The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Rick Trumbo officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and continue after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
