Emogene Akins

Emogene "Jean" Jones Akins passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown. She was born the last seven children on August 2nd, 1929 in Wayne County, Ky to Clemmie Frances Beagle and John Millard Jones. She was preceded in death by her husband Charlie Akins, her parents, her two sisters and four brothers. Jean was an active member of White Mills Christian Church for over 60 years. She was a Libarian Aid at Hardin Central Junior High and also West Hardin Middle School. She is survived by a loving family, a son and three daughters, Linda Akins (Dan) Lee of Stephensburg, Mary Ann Meredith of Nashville, TN, Laura Ellen (Jeff) Yates of Rineyville and JJ Akins (Heather Schafer) of Elizabethtown. She had nine grandchildren Jacob (Christina) Lee, Stephen (Kendal) Lee, Sarah (Sonnie) Potts, Daniel Meredith, Jared Yates, Ethan Yates, Emma, Claire and Allie Akins and one great grandchild Levi Potts. The funeral will be Sunday, December 27 at 2:00pm at White Mills Christian Church with Bro. Tim Dennis officiating. Burial will follow at Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 4 to 8pm Saturday, December 26th and Sunday after 12:00pm at Brown Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to White Mills Christian Church.
