Joseph Sweebe

Joseph Otto Sweebe, 83 of Elizabethtown, died Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at his home. He was a native of Averill, Michigan and was a retired MSG with the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean and Vietnam wars. He earned two purple hearts and a bronze star. He liked to fish and was known as the pen man for passing pens out to people around town. He was preceded in death by his first wife; Peggy Sweebe, his parents, Elmer Carlton and Thelma Ernesteen Sweebe, a son, Dee Sweebe; his siblings, Betty Snyder, Nancy Botsford, Judy Ahern and Jack Sweebe and a granddaughter, Talina. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Gail Sweebe; two sons, Rick (Tina) Jones of Coppers Cove, TX and Mike Jones of Elizabethtown; one daughter, Sheri (Dale) Kersey of White Mills; two brothers, Michael Sweebe and Ted (Irma) Sweebe; two sisters, Barbara Rider and Pat (Ron) Pettipas; ten grandchildren, Kelly, Ben (Melissa), Tabitha, Forrest, Garnet (Dominick), Shari, Richard, Crystal, Tara and Robyn and eight great grandchildren, Nathaniel, Aniyah, Alex, Emmery, Mickie, Jason, Nathaniel, Remile and Deklyn. A Memorial Service will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of Contributions to the Kentucky Animal Rescue.
