Vonda Delphine Herrin

Vonda Delphine Brandenburg Herrin, age 84, of Rineyville, Kentucky, left this earth to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on Friday, September 4, 2015, at her home, with her loving husband of 64 years, Dr. Raford B. Herrin, by her side. She was born March 26, 1931 in Lee County, Kentucky, to Lester and Beulah Brandenburg. Raised in Delvinta, Kentucky, she moved to Norwood, Ohio, as a teenager, graduating from Norwood High School. She and Raford married on February 17, 1951, embarking on a fruitful and exciting life that included eight children, sixteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. As a lifelong homemaker and wife of a pastor, Vonda dedicated her life to her husband, her children, and the churches they served for over 62 years, to include churches in Cynthiana, Kentucky, Falmouth, Kentucky, Mount Vernon, Kentucky, and Elizabethtown, Kentucky. She will be remembered for a life of heartfelt love and service to others, placing her husband, children, grandchildren and friends above her own interests. She was loving, kind, wise, witty and encouraging to all. She was committed to Jesus Christ and a life serving Him. Perhaps the greatest testament to her life is how much her children and grandchildren loved her. Every grandchild will hold dear in their hearts the regular exchange of, “I love you grandma,” followed by grandma’s, “I love you more!” She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Paul Brandenburg, her sister Eleanor Brandenburg, her brother Kenneth Brandenburg, who died in a POW camp in North Korea during the Korean War, her grandson Andrew McVicker, and her granddaughter Emily McVicker. Survivors include her husband Dr. Raford B. Herrin; eight children, Melinda Creech (Joe), of Cumberland, Kentucky; Cynthia McVicker, of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; Rebekah Hammond (Larry), of Mount Vernon, Kentucky; Kenneth Herrin, of Lexington, Kentucky; Aneta Vance, of Owenton, Kentucky; Tina Sexton (Jeff) of Charlottesville, Virginia; Barton Herrin (Tammy) of Sonora, Kentucky; Leesa Paynter (James (Skip)), of Sulpher, Kentucky; fourteen grandchildren, Kevin Isaacs, John Hammond, William McVicker, Jr., Bethanie Hammond, Rachelle Wood, Laynah Vance, Aaron Creech, Amelia Weber, Victoria Paynter, Barton Herrin, Jr., Cameron Paynter, Andrea Herrin, Seth Sexton, and McKinley Paynter; and three great grandchildren. .
