Betty Lou Goldsmith Guffey, 89 of Cecilia, passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at Baptist Health Hardin. She was a native of Vine Grove and a member of Open Valley Missionary Baptist Church.. She was preceded in death by her son, Joseph Conn Guffey; her parents, Elbert Melton Goldsmith and Lora Marguerite Shumate Irwin and a brother, Fred Irwin. Survivors include her husband of 72 years, Connie Sears Guffey; three daughters, Sandy (Charles) Van Bibber of Nolanviille, TX, Debra Lynn Guffey of Cecilia, and Susan Lora (James) Pennington of Bullhead City, NV; two brothers, James (Hannah) Goldsmith of Cecilia and George (Mary Jane) Irwin of AZ; nine grandchildren, Heather, Brandon, Brandy, Alicia, Amy, Amber, Chucky, Chad, and Jeremy and 11 great-grandchildren. The funeral will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Open Valley Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Malcolm Doyle and Rev. Jeff Doyle officiating. Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the church.
