Charles K. Waddell, 85 of Elizabethtown, passed away on Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at Baptist Health Hardin. He and his wife Barbara were high school sweethearts and graduated in 1957 from Glendale High School, they married on October 26, 1957 by Rev. Gene Wagner at Roundtop Baptist Church parsonage. Charles and Barbara owned and operated C&B Value Mart Grocery in Rineyville between 1974 and 1979, retired from Kroger in 1994 after 37 years and later retired from Hardin County Schools where he was a bus driver for 27 years. He was of the Baptist by faith. Charles was preceded in death by his mother, Corine Jeffries; father, Warner Waddell; two brothers, William "Bill" Waddell and Roger Waddell; one brother-in-law, Robert Boyd and one sister-in-law, Jane Cundiff Boyd Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Barbara Boyd Waddell; four children, Charles "Chuck" Waddell of Radcliff, Denise Waddell Harris (Robert) of Big Clifty, Kenneth Waddell (Melissa) of Eastview and Teresa Waddell Marsden of Elizabethtown; five grandchildren, Mindy Brewer (James) of Big Clifty, Amber Marsden of Louisville, Aaron Marsden of Elizabethtown, Bethany Waddell of Eastview and Jonah McLain of TN; one brother-in-law, Robert Boyd; one sister-in-law, Jane Cundiff Boyd and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at Brown Funeral Home.
