Dr. Lewis Campbell Gore, 85 of Elizabethtown, passed away Friday, January 6, 2023 at Helmwood Healthcare. Dr. Lewis "John" Gore was born on November 6th, 1937, on a farm in Taylor Co, KY. Dr. Gore graduated from Taylor County High School and then attended Campbellsville University, University of Kentucky, and then graduated from Auburn. He graduated from the Auburn University Veterinary Program in 1963 and then established Elizabethtown Animal Hospital in 1967. Dr. Gore served the area for over 40 years, retiring in 1999 but then providing veterinary relief work until 2018. He was a member of several Veterinary Medical Associations. He was a member of Severns Valley Baptist Church, enjoyed UK basketball, football, hunting and playing golf with his friends. He also loved spending time with family. He was preceded in death by his parents, James N. and Mariam Gertrude Campbell Gore; one brother, Lenwood Gore and two sisters, Christine Gabehart and Corene Henderson. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Jana Gore; one son, Dr. Jim Gore (Dr. Stacy) of Nashville, TN. Three daughters, Pam (Dan) Seats of Santa Fe, NM; Patty (Dr. Larry) Benz of Sarasota, FL and Cyndi (Jeff) Frodge of Maysville; 9 grandchildren, Dr. Allison Seats, Rachel Seats, Camp Seats, Aaron Benz, Jonathan Benz, Lauren Barnett, Jordan Frodge, Elena Gore and Stephen Gore and three great grandchildren, Levi Benz, Johnny Benz and Elliot Barnett. The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home with Dr. Matt Beasley officiating. Burial will follow in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home and Wednesday beginning at 12:00 p.m. until time for service.
