Vanton Lee Moore

Mr. Vanton Lee Moore was born on September 4,1940 in Alberta, Virginia to the late William Henry Moore and the late Sadie McFarland Moore. He departed this life on Sunday, November 20, 2022 at his home surrounding by family. He was called by his last name only by most due to his military background. He served in the United States Army and was a Vietnam veteran before retiring after 20 years of service. After retiring from the military, he worked for the city of Elizabethtown for several years at the water treatment facility. He worked in his final job as a transportation worker for the state of Kentucky before retiring for good after 15 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Elizabethtown. He was preceded in death by three sisters: Mary Etta Moore, Nellie Moore, and Lillie Moore Peques. Vanton is survived by his wife Mary Vaughn Moore, a son, Jonathan Vaughn of El Paso, TX; three daughters: Sadie Vaughn, of Louisville, KY, Mary Brown (James) of Elizabethtown, KY, Michele Johnson (Jay) of Clarksville, TN, Two sisters, Elizabeth Moore Bell (late William Henry) of Alberta, VA, Margaret Moore Peterson (William B) of Alberta, VA, eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. The funeral will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Elizabethtown. Visitation will be from 12-1 p.m. Saturday at the church. A graveside service with military honors will be Tuesday, November 29th at 2:30 p.m. at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central. Condolences may be expressed online at www.brownfuneral.com.
