Richard John Polk, Sr. 82 of Elizabethtown, passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at University of Louisville Hospital. He was born in Louisville to Daniel and Mabel Polk. Richard worked as a regional manager for the Winn-Dixie store chain and as an independent grocery store owner. He attended First Christian Church. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters, Carolyn Moore and Dorothy Polk. Survivors include his three children, Robin (Robert) Tillman of Sulphur, Robert of Jeffersontown, and Richard Jr. (Amy) of Lexington; one sister, Gwen Lambert of Louisville; one brother, Dan Polk of Richmond, VA; nine grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren and his beloved companion, Gail Dunkelberger. Richard considered Gail's sons, Bart, Scott and Bob and their families to be a part of his. Visitation will be from 1 - 4 Monday at Brown Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will follow at 4 pm with Bro. Chris Kiger officiating. Cremation has been chosen.
