Ruth Helen Martin Varney, 86, of Elizabethtown, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 1, 2022 at her residence. A native of Elizabethtown, she was preceded in death by her parents, Clifton Roscoe and Emma Jane Spencer Martin; seven brothers, John, Arnold, Robert, Jimmy, Sterling, Shirley and Woodford Martin; six sisters, Virginia Maddox, Minnie Rose Anderson, Neomia Reed, Maudina Rose Martin, Mildred Carter and Sarah Edith Martin; one granddaughter, Miranda Brooke Marshall; and the father of her children, Larry Jennings Varney. Ruth is survived by a son, Rodney Varney of Elizabethtown; four daughters, Jane Varney, Rebecca Webb and Jennifer Lingerfelt (Monty) all of Elizabethtown and Julie Puckett (Jim) of Rineyville. She was also the proud and loving grandmother of 18 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please make a donation to Hosparus Health of Central Kentucky. The funeral will be Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Curle officiating. Burial will follow in Jenkins Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and continue after 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
