Mary Eva Langley Redmond

Mary Eva Langley Redmond, 94, of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, passed away Friday, April 15, 2022, at Sayre Christian Village in Lexington, Kentucky. Mary was born July 6, 1927 in Lyons Station, Kentucky. After graduation from Hodgenville High School, Mary was employed by the L&N Railroad in Louisville. She was bookkeeper for Pate Motor Company and Tinsley Oldsmobile, Cadillac, GMC in Elizabethtown prior to her position as Office Manager for Herb Jones Chevrolet until her retirement in 1983. Mary loved to travel, and her desire was to “see the world.” Among the destinations Mary and her husband, Ben, travelled to were The Holy Land, and many countries in Europe and Asia. Mary was an active member of First Christian Church in Elizabethtown for over 70 years. She sang in the choir, and played piano for her Sunday school class. She also organized monthly meetings and trips of interest for the Young-at-Heart group. Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 71 years, John Benjamin “Benny” Redmond; her parents, Ernest and Halene Langley; a brother, Ernest Ray Langley, Jr. and a sister, Margie Jeannette Nalley. She was the loving mother of Carolyn Jones (Chuck), Linda Wilson (Charley), John Redmond (Linda), Jim Redmond (Katherine), and Barbara Hammonds (David). She was the proud grandmother of Derek Lewis (Brittany), Mary Rachel Hammonds, Marjorie Hammonds, Allison Redmond (Jay Orfield), Mark Redmond (Lourdes), Brad Wilson (Melissa), Jeff Wilson, Ben Redmond (Jennifer), twelve great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. The funeral is Wednesday, April 20, at Noon at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown.
