Mavis Jewell Hart

Mavis Jewell Hart, 86 of Cecilia, died Sunday, October 10, 2021 at her home with her family by her side. She was a native of Hardin County, a Missionary with Putting Prayer to Action and a lifelong member of Smith Chapel United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Golden Years Club. She was a farmer, loved fishing, going out on the pontoon and the outdoors. She loved to travel and she and her husband went to 38 states. Mavis was a great cook, seamstress and loved yard sales. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Luther Phelps; her parents, Dennis "Dok" Goodman and Beulah Cundiff Goodman; a sister and brother-in-law, Ardith and Arthur Grey and a sister-in-law, Carolyn Goodman. She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Earl Hart; three daughters, Sharon Kennedy, Regina (Anthony) Goodman of Stephensburg and Tina Renay (Bryan) Decker of Big Clifty; two step children, Sheila Blain and Kerry (Linda) Hart; one brother, Kennie Goodman of Elizabethtown; three grandchildren, David (Pam) Dennis, Trace Decker and Brennen Decker; two great-grandchildren, Kai Dennis and Willow Dennis; five step grandchildren, Collin Hart, Connor Hart, Catherine Hart, Maggie Brockman and Jay "J.W." (Tina) Trujillo and four great-grandchildren, Tyler (Katelyn) Brockman, Payton Brockman, Waylon Trujillo and Martina Bunnell. The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home with Rev. David Stephens officiating. Burial will follow in Smith Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and continue after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
