Joseph Edward Murphy, 76 of Elizabethtown, died Monday, September 13, 2021 at Baptist Health Hardin. He was a native of Owensboro, graduated from St. X High School and served in the U.S. Air Force during Vietnam. He was a truck driver for Tradewinds Transit. He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel Edward and Mary Lucille Bickett Murphy and two step children, James Oller and Diane Hall. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Janet Fowler Murphy; two sons, Sean Murphy and Paul Murphy; two daughters, Jenni Walters (Mark) and Tina Piske; one step daughter, Vicki Nichols (Kevin); one brother, John Murphy; one sister, Patricia Candler (Tom); 21 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home with Bro. George Rhye officiating. Burial will follow in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens.
