Ruthell Sharp Slack

Mrs. Ruthell Sharp Slack went to heaven on Monday, June 14, 2021 at Bluegrass Assisted Living. She was born in Casey County and was a Practical Nurse who returned to school in the 1960's to become an LPN while working fulltime and raising four children. She enjoyed watching the Cincinnati Reds baseball team, cooking and canning. You could say her hobby was babysitting any child who needed her. Everyone called her Nanny. She enjoyed serving in the children's nursery at Mt. Zion Baptist Church where she was a member. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Fred Slack; parents, Mary Atwood and Everett Sharp; a son, James D. Slack; a son-in-law, Billy Carnell; her only sibling, William J. "Bill" Sharp and a niece, Billie Anne Sharp. She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Carnell; two sons, David A. Slack (Gina) and Joseph M. Slack (Tammy); daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Slack; nine grandchildren, Rachel, Jessica, Pamela, Dan, Chris, David, Heather, Justin and Jessica; eight great grandchildren, Jon, Jessi, Max, Ezra, Kaya, Kink, Walter and Paisley and one great great granddaughter, Elliana Ruth. The funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Leon Chambers officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and continue after 1 p.m. Saturday Brown Funeral Home.
