Norma Jean "Jeanie" Tabb Routt

Norma Jean "Jeanie" Tabb Routt, 90, of Elizabethtown passed away on May 13, 2021, and entered the arms of her Heavenly Father. She was born in Akron, Ohio, in 1931 to the late Harvey and Eva Bland Tabb. Shortly thereafter she returned with her family to Hardin County where she lived in either E'town or Sonora her entire life. She was a graduate of the Sonora High School Class of 1949. On October 11, 1950, she married Joseph Haynes Routt at the Southern Baptist Seminary in Louisville and they made their home in Elizabethtown. Throughout most of the 1950s she worked for Civil Service at Ft. Knox, and in 1958 she focused on full-time motherhood and taking care of her family. She was a wonderful mother and wife and always sacrificed for the sake of her family. Many years later she resumed working part-time, but always made her family priority. Jeanie was a long-time member of Severns Valley Baptist Church and served many years in the church nursery. Jeanie loved her friends and family dearly and the door to her home was always open. She will be greatly missed by all. In addition to her parents, Jeanie was predeceased by her loving husband Haynes, and also an older brother, Robert Louis Tabb, with whom she was very close. She is survived by two children, Nancy Routt Clark (Robert) of Lexington and Tabb Haynes Routt (Carolyn) of Louisville; four grandchildren, Rachel Clark Simpkins (Brent), Renee Clark, Haley Routt Risinger (Jake), Haynes Thomas Routt, and one great-grandchild, Cooper John Simpkins. She is also survived by three younger siblings, Mary Ann Alexander (Sam), Dorothy Coffman, and Kenny Tabb (Liz), and a host of nieces and nephews and their families. Jeanie's family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the wonderful folks at Tender Touch Heart and Home for taking such great care of her and loving her these past two years. Thank you also to the fine staff at Allegro who also cared for mom prior to that. Your kindness and genuine care for our precious mom is much appreciated. Brown Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 14, from 4-8 p.m and continues Saturday at 9 am followed by the service at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Sonora Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Hosparus Health of Central Kentucky, who was so wonderful to both of our parents during their time of need.
