James W. Eggen

James W. Eggen, 84, of Elizabethtown, passed away Thursday, April 8, 2021, at his home. Jim graduated from Elizabethtown High school in the class of 1955 and upon graduation joined the U.S. Navy for four years and served as an Electronic Technician. He later retired from Sears Service in Elizabethtown after 30 years. Jim was a friend to anyone who needed help (he could fix just about anything) and he really enjoyed his fishing buddies, especially their tournaments. He was preceded in death by his parents, Chandler R. Eggen and Mayme Stith Eggen; a brother, Shirley R. Eggen; and a great grandchild, Silas Brawner. Jim was a loving husband, dad, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was so proud of his family. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Phyllis Cecil Eggen; two sons, James Kenneth (Michelle) Eggen and Michael Ray Eggen (Bobbi Petty) of Elizabethtown; five grandchildren: Dennis (Adriane) Eggen and Melissa (A.J. Meuller) Eggen of Louisville, Ashley (Jacob Banks) Eggen, Lindsea Eggen and Adrianna Eggen of Elizabethtown; seven great-grandchildren: E.J. and Isabel Eggen of Louisville, Luke and Annie Eggen Meuller of Louisville; Noah Eggen, Freia and Lilith Banks of Elizabethtown; and nephew, Ralph Eggen of Glen Burnie, Maryland.
