Adrian W. Price

Adrian W. Price, 95 of Elizabethtown, Ky passed away Tuesday, December 29,2020 at his home surrounded by love. Born in Lyons ,Ky, he was the son of the late Eva-Lena Thomas Price and Willard S. Price. He was loved dearly by his step-mother, Lucyrene "Pricey" Price. He was also pre-ceded in death by his brother, Harold Price. He loved his country and could not wait to serve. He attempted to enlist when he was sixteen years old but had to wait until he was seventeen years old. He enlisted in the United States Navy on July 4th, 1942. A year later, he decided to enlist in the United States Air Force. He served as a Msgt in the Air Defense Command and traveled the world. He married his soulmate, Geneda Patterson Price on August 23, 1952 at the home of his father and step-mother in Louisville, Ky. They had one daughter, Patricia "Tricia" Price on April 22, 1954. Surely, she thought, her father "hung the moon". As a family, they traveled all over the United States while stationed at different Air Force Bases. While on "Isolated Tours" overseas, Geneda and Tricia would go to live on the Patterson family farm in Girdler, Ky with her beloved mother and a cousin. This always felt like home and a favorite and loved place of Adrians. There, he was surrounded and loved by the "Patterson Clan"..nieces, nephews, sister-in -laws and brother-in laws whom he loved dearly. He retired from the Air Force in August, 1967. Soon after, he and Geneda opened the first Kentucky Fried Chicken in Elizabethtown, Ky. After some years, they left the restaurant business and he went into the Insurance business and then later retired. He was a devoted member of the Elizabethtown Church of Christ and Lebanon Junction Church of Christ. He served as a Deacon, Elder and part time minister. He was an "constant encourager" to many. Around the year 2000, he began traveling to the Ukraine for mission work. He made several trips and kept in touch with many of his friends there. In March of 2018, he moved into Atria Assisted Living. He loved the staff at Atria and made many friends there and always a constant "encourager" to other residents and staff. At one point, he earned the nickname of "the Mayor." He will be missed by members of the church, the community, neighbors, nieces and nephews on the Patterson and Price sides. He held a special place in his heart for an "adopted daughter" of Nashville, Dawn O'Kieff. He was a loyalist to friends and family. He was grateful, kind, compassionate and a great listener. So good to so many. Never met a stranger. Never saw "color'. A kind word to every person and animal. A lover of the planet and all things living. Loved God. True to his country. Not a taker, a giver. In lieu of donations to any particular agency. As he would do, please "pay something forward." Smile at a stranger. Thank your trash collector. Drop a hot meal off to someone who is unable to get out. Rescue an animal in need. Hug a child. Call a friend or relative just to say, "hi, I am thinking of you. Send a card with a special note. Thank a veteran. One of his favorite quotes by Minor Myers, Jr. "Go into the world and do well. But more importantly, go into the world and do good"...
