Howard Ellis Franklin

Howard Ellis Franklin, 87, of Elizabethtown, died Thursday, November 15, 2018 at his home. He was a native of Chauncey, West Virginia, and retired after 27 years from the United States Army where served in the Vietnam and Korean War as a drill sergeant. He was preceded in death by his parents, Musco and Tellie Bailey Franklin; son-in-law, Tim Devore; sister, Juanita (Kenneth) Hughes; three brothers, Jim Franklin, Edgar Franklin, and Bubby Shepherd. He is survived by his wife, Lona Fay Franklin; daughter, Kathy Lynn Devore; brother, Pete (Maggie) Shepherd; two sisters, Linda (Melvin) Smith and Billie Ann Franklin; two grandchildren, Whitney (Travis) England and Derek Devore; one great grandchild, Millie Kate England; his loving dog, Coco; and a host of many nieces and nephews. The funeral is at 12 p.m. Tuesday at Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Raliegh Bostic officiating. Burial will follow in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens.
