William B. "Red" French

William B. "Red" French, 91 of Elizabethtown, died Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Helmwood Health Care. He was born December 17, 1926 in Hardin County, and graduated from Rineyville High School, where he played on the basketball teams that went to the state tournament in 1941, 1942, 1944 and 1945. Bill served in the U. S. Army during WWII and was the former owner and operator of Boone Cleaners for 62 years, a member of the American Legion Post #113 and the Knights of Columbus Council #1455. He was recently inducted in the North Hardin Hall of Fame. He is preceded in death by his grandson, Grant Thomas French; his parents, James and Catherine Cooper French; three brothers, John H. French, James French, and George Dennis French; four sisters, Mary Rose Shannon, Aileen Hall, Katherine Wilkins and Nellie Christine Fenwick. He was the loving father of six children, Judy Roguz of Elizabethtown, Joy (Ed) Walker of Jacksonville, Florida, and Peggy (Jeff) Brady of Frankfort, Gary (Lisa) French, Ray French, and Larry Joe (Rita) French all of Elizabethtown; his companion of many years, Bonnie Dodson; grandchildren, Stuart Priddy, Kent (Katie) Walker, Mark (Katy) Walker, Chad (Jackie) French, Jennifer (Danny) Payne, Mika (Matt) Tyler, Lindsey ( Michael) Mangino, John (Karen) Brady, Anne French Brady, Morgan (Jonathan) Tessin and Chase Richardson and 17 great grandchildren. The funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Rineyville with Rev. Dan Lincoln officiating. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. and continue after 9 a.m. Thursday at Brown Funeral Home. Condolences may be expressed online at www.brownfuneral.com.
