Denise Newcom Freeland

Denise Newcom Freeland, 65 years of age, passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2018 after a lengthy battle with breast cancer. She was preceded in death by her son, Wesley; and parents, Harold and Norma Newcom of Louisville. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Albert Freeland; her son Tracey (Christina) Freeland and grandsons Nicolas and Wyatt of Nicholasville, KY; daughter-in-law, Jennica Hafer Freeland and granddaughter Amelia, of Middletown; her brother, Richard (Nikki) Newcom of Crestwood; and sisters Glenda (Dennis) Smith of Louisville, Rita Hyatt of Louisville, Toni (Steve) Bennett of Gulf Shores, AL, and Terri (Mike) Drey of Progreso, Mexico. Denise was a former member of Christ Episcopal Church; member of Order of Kentucky Colonels; Past-President of Hardin County Republican Women’s Club; the Order of St. Joan D’Arc; and volunteer and board member of USA Cares. She was a long time employee of Skeeters, Bennett, Wilson and Pike law firm and recently came out of retirement to assist at Aldridge and Aldridge law firm. During her marriage, the family resided in Lexington, KY; Columbus, GA; London, KY; Richmond, KY; and Elizabethtown, KY. Denise and her husband enjoyed travels across the country attending military reunions with lifelong friends as well as enjoying several European river cruises. Visitation and Funeral services will be at Brown Funeral Home, 306 College St., Elizabethtown, KY. Visitation will be from 12:00 to 4:00 on Sunday, March 25 with a service to follow at 4:00 p.m. Interment will be in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery, Central 2501 N. Dixie Blvd., Radcliff, KY 40160, on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. The family requests that expressions of sympathy be to USA Cares or Hosparus Health of Central Kentucky.
