John Louis Harris, Jr.

John Louis Harris Jr., 75, of Elizabethtown, passed away on Friday, October 13, 2017 at Hardin Memorial Hospital. He was a Vietnam Veteran whom served in the United States Air Force. He retired from Wright Patterson Air Force Base. After his military service he continued his career as an electrician, joining the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He retired from IBEW local 369 in 2015. John was also a member of the VFW and the American Legion Post 113. He was preceded in death by his parents, John L. and Edna F. Harris; his brother, James A. Harris; his granddaughter, Sierra J. Harris; and two sister-in-laws, Shirley Harris and Mary Lou Harris. Survivors include his wife, Bonnie; four children, Jesse (Tanja) Harris, Cori (Billy) Tyler, Lisa Hass, and Erik Harris; and one step-daughter, Carline Kennel. He has ten remaining brothers, Joe, Richard, Bobby, Ronnie, Earl, Bo, David, Kevin, Kenny, and Mark. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, 6 sisters-in-law, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. The funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Ambrose Catholic Church with Rev. Ben Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 2-6 p.m. Sunday and continues after 9 a.m. Monday at Brown Funeral Home.
