Opal Givan Smallwood

Opal Givan Smallwood, 91 of Cecilia, passed away, Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at Hardin Memorial Hospital. She passed from this world to a better world in the loving arms of Jesus, surrounded by her loving family, friends and neighbors. She was a member of Liberty Chapel General Baptist Church for over 25 years where she served as a Sunday school teacher and various other duties for many years. She will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, James Willard Smallwood; her parents, Alfred and Osie Hay Givan; two baby brothers, Marvin and Bobby; a daughter-in-law, Mary Leah Smallwood and a son-in-law, Jim Ritchie. She is survived by her children, Wilma Ritchie of Cecilia, Ronald (Deana) Smallwood of Cecilia, Barbara McCamish of Constantine, James (Kim Cibelli) Smallwood of Cecilia and Marsha (Jason) Butterworth of Cecilia; a brother, Harley Givan of Eastview; three sisters, Oleda Smallwood of Cecilia, Georgia Reed of Cecilia, and Helen Butterworth of Constantine; eight grandchildren, Dana (Kevin) Thomas, Randy McCamish, Corey Smallwood, McCall Smallwood, Grayson Smallwood, Steven McCamish, Matthew (Ashley) McCamish and Mason (Ashley Childress) Butterworth; four great grandchildren, Ben, Claire and Drew Thomas and Jackson McCamish; two step grandchildren, Dustin Daugherty and Denita Chambers and two special step grandchildren, Alex Cibelli and Alexis Hill. The funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Jimmy Sutton officiating. Burial will follow in Horn Cemetery.
