Beatrice Hornback Skees Smallwood, 81 of Elizabethtown, died Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at Kensington Center. She was a native of Hardin County and retired from Gates Rubber Company. She was a loving mother, grandmother and sister. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Joseph Ray Skees and Frank W. Smallwood; her parents, Claude and Pearl Hornback and two brothers, Calvin Hornback and Elroy Hornback. She is survived by one daughter, Shirley (Mike) Masterson of Elizabethtown; one son, Barry Skees of Stephensburg; one sister, Caroline (Werner) Rodgers of Sonora; 2 brothers, Eugene (Sandy) Hornback and Thomas (Geri) Hornback both of Sonora; three grandchildren, Holly (Shawn) Powell, Vanessa (Austin) Carroll and Evan Skees and two great grandchildren. The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Tony Carson officiating. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery.
