Posey LaMarr Wise, 85 of Elizabethtown, died on Thursday, December 15, 2016 at his home. Posey was born in Pitts Point on Salt River which is now the Fort Knox Military Reservation and lived there until the family moved to St. John Road in Elizabethtown. Posey graduated from Rineyville High School in 1950 and played basketball for the Rineyville Red Devils. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, retired from civil service at Fort Knox and later was a builder. Posey loved to play golf and was a faithful UK Wildcat basketball fan. He was a member of the Memorial United Methodist Church where he was an active member of the Harmony Sunday School Class. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert E. and Goldie Atherton Wise, his wife, Jane Ann Berry Wise, two brothers, Robert E. and Julius A. Wise and two sisters, Eleanor Wise Miller and Ernestine Wise Tabb. He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Sue Sego Wise; two sons, T. L. Wise of Lexington and David Wise of Rineyville; one daughter, Judy Jane Wise of Elizabethtown; seven grandchildren, Sarah (Steve), Amy, Rebecca, Angie, Malcolm, Chastity and Megan (Chris); seven great grandchildren, Nicholas, Lucas, Haleigh, Elizabeth, Reanna, Christian and Roseanna; one step-daughter, Melissa Jones of Lexington; two step grandchildren, Parker and Emily and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Don Sexton and Rev. John Vaught officiating. Burial will follow in Hardin Memorial Park in Elizabethtown. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday and continue after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
