James "Jim" Hillman Newton

James Hillman "Jim" Newton, of Elizabethtown, died Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at Hardin Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Loretto, served in the U. S. Marines and was a member of St. James Catholic Church. He was a member of the VFW in Shively, a Kentucky Colonel, was an avid hiker and a member of the Louisville Hiking Club. He retired from International Harvester and Vulcan Hart in Louisville. He loved to play golf and he taught his grandchildren to fish. He shared great times with family and friends at the pond. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Frances Day Newton; his parents, James Ernest and Mary Izola Cambron Newton; and one brother, Harry Lee Newton He is survived by his wife, Anne Pitcock Newton; two children, James Michael Newton (Maria Fairholm) of Louisville and Katherine Newton Bucci (Marcus Kim Bucci) of Belle Meade, NJ; two step children, Barry Pitcock (Pam) of Vine Grove and Sandy French of Louisville; and his siblings, William "Bill" Newton, Bobby Newton, Joyce Johnson, and Charlotte Peak all of Louisville, Nancy Reitano of Pawleys Island, SC and Wilma Lenhart of McDaniels; nine grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church with Rev. Martin Linebach officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
