Wilford Owen Cecil

Wilford Owen ""Wilkie" Cecil, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, September 14, 2015 at 12:55 p.m. at the University of Louisville Hospital. He was a native of Hardin County, a 1962 graduate of Vine Grove High School and served in the U.S. Army. He was an honest generous person and a trusted self-employed contractor for 40 years in the community. He was a devoute Christian, a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and was a Deacon at Tunnel Hill Baptist Church for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willis and Mable Cecil; sisters, Anna Ruth (Dobie) Sherrard, Ruby Lee (Forrest) Sherrard and Patsy (Clarence) Stephen and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Linda Lutz Cecil; his sons, Tim (Diana) Cecil and Paul (April) Cecil all of Elizabethtown and Greg (Robin) Cecil of Munfordville; grandchildren, Nicole Cecil, Heather Cecil, Taylor Cecil, Morgan Cecil, Wade Cecil and Wyatt Cecil; great grandchildren, Jaina Jo and Leia Mae Armstrong; brothers, Elroy (Ruby) Cecil of Vine Grove, Dickie (Ann) Cecil, Genie (Teresa) Cecil all of Radcliff, J. Mack Cecil of Elizabethtown; sisters, Noelita Davis of Upton and Wanda Reesor of Radcliff. The funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Leon Chambers and Rev. Scott Kerr officiating. Burial will follow in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Brown Funeral Home and continue after 9 a.m. Thursday at the Church.
