Why Pre-arrrange your Funeral
The most inevitable fact of life is that it will end one day. We all resist thinking about such things as funeral arrangements, monuments, plots and all the details associated with a loved one dying. By preplanning your funeral, you can ease some of the pain of trying to make decisions while grieving. Making prearrangements can be as simple or as detailed as you wish. You can make the selection of the services, casket, vault, music, etc. or simply record the information that will be needed for the legal forms and other paperwork.
Although not required when making pre arrangements, most people choose to set aside funds that will cover their future funeral expenses. You can start a funeral trust account for as little as $100. You may choose to pay for the funeral in full at current prices.
If you or someone you know is applying for financial assistance under SSI/Medicaid you can itemize the funeral expense in full for the service of your choice before assets are used up for medical care or reduced to SSI eligibility levels.
